SENGGIGI FESTIVAL 2006
It's nearly Senggigi Festival time again -that magic week of the year when the tourist centre of Senggigi comes alive with extra colour and entertainment for locals and visitors alike.

The annual festival is a week of cultural events that helps promote Lombok Tourism. This year’s festival is from 15-21 July.

Held in the Senggigi resort area, the festival is organized by the West Lombok Department of Tourism, Art and Culture, participating artists and cultural observers, and by tour agencies.

During the week of festivities all the colour of Lombok’s art and culture are brought together in one central location so that Indonesian and foreign guests visiting the island can easily experience all that is on offer, and take part in events.

The festival opens with traditional Cultural Parade from 3 pm on July 15.

Each day and evening during the festival there are performances of traditional cultural dances and ‘Stick Fighting’ (Peresean).

Throughout the festival, daily from 9 am, the Tourism Industry Exhibition will be open to the public.

On July 19, in another highlight, organizers will stage the English Speech Competition that begins at 9 am.
